ipl

I am one amongst those cricket-mad people who watch every match irrespective of teams, nations and players. Some people call it a game of gentlemen while some sportsmen criticize it as a lazy game when compared to football and tennis. Having loved cricket I was destined to drench in the rain of ipl the Indian domestic version of this fantastic game. though the first version was fantastic with some innovative and entertaining actions , with me supporting the RAJASTHAN ROYALS for the likes of kaif, warne and pathan, the second and third editions let the business face of the league to shine over the game. There were the strategic timeouts by maxx, karbon kamaal catch, citi moment of success, mrf blip etc which pushed aside the importance of the game. And the match fixing issues along with the modi-shashi tharoor issue made the third edition to be played off the field in the media and parliament. The quality of the game is lost- there are no more square cuts, leg glance, cover drives etc. its only power play and slog hitting. It is boring to watch further matches and I doubt the very existence of such a cricketing league next year for its fourth edition. The number of teams also has been increased to 10 and the total matches to 94, making it a lengthier tournament to be certainly affected by the ICC schedule.
